The Rotary Club of district 9127, has sensitised women and young girls on menstrual hygiene.
The district head on maternal and child health, Lovina Okorn Nfui, made this disclosure at the weekend while speaking to journalists during one day sensitisation in Abuja.
She added that the programme will enable the girl-child know the dangers of neglecting her personal hygiene and with the theme: “Girls Vision for the Future”
“We want the community to benefit from this initiative and that was why we brought in girls from John Knox college Nasarrawa state, the Christian Girls in Training, (CGIT) and this is first project we are bringing to Nyanya,” she said.
Nfui noted that there will be distribution of sanitary pads, soap, face towel, shaving stick, tissue and menstrual cup.
Earlier, menstrual advocate, Blessing Ajabowe, emphasised that the introduction of menstrual cup to the society is the sustainable way to end period poverty.
