Ruth Langsford was ‘devastated’ after finding messages exchanged between her husband Eamonn Holmes and another woman, it’s been reported.
On May 25 this year, it was announced that the TV star couple had decided to divorce after 14 years of marriage and more than two decades together.
A spokesperson for the former This Morning co-hosts confirmed the news to Metro.co.uk, days before Eamonn addressed the divorce on GB News, telling his viewers: ‘I’d just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated.’
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Eamonn, 64, had been showering a close friend – who works as a relationship counsellor and who he’s known for several years – with gifts, leaving Ruth, also 64, ‘angry’.
In a new update, the Loose Women star is said to have been left extremely upset by the discovery of messages sent between her spouse and another woman on his laptop.
‘Ruth was completely taken by surprise when she saw the messages,’ a source told The Sun.
‘She had no idea what had been going on between them. She was devastated. Not only was she very upset but she was also angry.’
According to the publication, it’s understood that the woman who Eamonn had been messaging and the woman who had treated to gifts were the same person.
The gifts reportedly included tickets to a Beyoncé concert, a visit to Center Parcs and tickets to watch Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The counsellor is not said to be a reason for the marriage breakdown.
A source previously said that Ruth’s upset about the breakdown of her marriage had turned to ‘anger’.
‘Eamonn’s friend is bowled over by being lavished with attention and kindness from him,’ they told The Sun.
It’s recently been reported that Ruth is taking a break from appearing on Loose Women in the midst of her divorce.
‘Ruth was hurt when she learned about Eamonn’s friendship with another woman but she is strong and she will be back soon with a smile on her face, putting her best foot forward, as she always does,’ The Mirror was informed.
Metro.co.uk has Eamonn Holmes’ representatives for comment. Ruth Langsford’s representatives declined to comment.
