Yes, ghd straighteners are great, but they also cost a pretty penny.
So, what if you could get the same effect at a fraction of the price? Well, say hello to the Remington Shine Therapy straightener, which is currently cheaper than ever.
The popular straightener has a whopping 27,000 reviews on Amazon – with 80% of those being five-star ratings from impressed shoppers.
Several customers say they are ‘just as good as ghd’, without costing well over £100. The Remington Shine Therapy version is currently an absolute bargain at £24.99 (down from £79.99).
What makes it a little different and, it seems, effective is the ceramic plates, which are infused with Morrocan argan oil to moisturise and add shine to your locks.
When heated, the oil is designed to evenly emit through the plates and onto your hair.
Remington says it carried out a consumer blind test on 60 respondents and found that the straighteners gave 86% more shine than the participants’ own high-street versions.
One reviewer on Amazon said they’d tried various straighteners over the years that left their hair ‘straighter and a bit shinier’ but the ‘gentlest shower of rain’ would turn their tresses frizzy again.
But, they added, after using this tool their hair was ‘much straighter and glossier’ and still looked great even after exposure to damp air or light rain.
Another said they’d been using a ghd straightener for years until they ‘ran out of life’ so they decided to try the cheaper Remington.
They said: ‘They’re fab! The plates are infused with Argan oil and it makes my hair feel really soft. Wish I took a before and after but after sleeping with a tight bun in my hair, it took me about 2 minutes to straighten! So seamless.’
Another former ghd user, meanwhile, wrote: ‘After having a browse these came up with great reviews so for the price thought I’d give them a go and they are great. I have thick shoulder length hair and takes me less time using these to do hair and lasts days.’

Meanwhile, another reviewer posted: ‘I wanted a pair of wide plate straighteners, and was debating whether I should buy the *well known brand* at £200. I came across these and, on reading the reviews, thought what the hell, at that price, it’s got to be worth a shot. SOOOO glad I did.
‘These are absolutely fantastic. I have really thick curly hair and in a matter of minutes it was completely straight and sleek. I honestly couldn’t be happier.’
