Emmerdale legend Samantha Giles revealed the unusual way of relieving arthritis pain.

The Bernice Blackstock actress, 53, revealed that she has the condition – which causes joint inflammation, pain, and stiffness.

However, in her latest Instagram post she explained the remedy to help relieve the pain.

‘Hi, I’m not giving you the finger, I’m just showing you the  arthritis on that finger,’ she began.

‘And I’ve been told one way to get rid of arthritic pain or to help is to sting that area with stinging nettles.’

The star then proceeded to do just that.

‘It hurts quite a lot.’ (Picture: Instagram)

‘It hurts quite a lot, it’s bad but it’s not as bad,’ she said.

‘It’s supposed to make your immune system concentrate on the stinging and take it away from the arthritis.’

Fans took to the comments to express their thoughts on the unusual remedy, with @lori_loves_silence commenting: ‘It does work! And you get used to the stings.’

@emmabispham added: ‘Oh Sam! I know I shouldn’t laugh, as I’m super interested in alternative remedies, but you are funny 🤣 You’d be hysterical on ‘ I’m a celebrity get me out of here’ 😂 Hope it helped ease any arthritis pain ❤️‍🩹xxx.’

Samantha starred as Bernice in the long-running show sporadically for twenty five years before departing last year.

‘It was really nice to have Bernice playing a storyline which was actually quite serious but obviously, there [were] some funny moments,’ said Sam of her exit story, which saw Bernice flee after taking out a loan in sister Nicola King’s name.

‘Giving a comedic character a serious storyline, I think, should be quite hard-hitting’, she said.

‘Who knows what [Bernice] going to go off and do now? Who knows if she’ll be back in the future?

‘Thank you to Emmerdale, I’m going to miss everybody but hopefully I will work with them all again at some point in the future.

She also appeared alongside her former co-star Gaynor Faye and Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent in the touring production of The Syndicate, adapted from the BBC One series of the same name.
