Star Wars Confirms Unexpected Skeleton Crew Easter Egg, But There’s Even More Than You Think

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 3Star Wars has confirmed a very cool Star Tours Easter egg in Skeleton Crew, but it’s actually just one of several references to the classic Disneyland ride, and its once neighboring attraction Captain EO, the 3D sci-fi short film starring Michael Jackson and produced by George Lucas. While the premiere has some more overt references to both attractions, there are additional exciting references and eggs in Skeleton Crew episode 3 which are arguably harder to spot.

Revealed in a promo video from Star Wars, Skeleton Crew sound designer David W. Collins confirms that the bus chime heard when the school bus lets out students in Skeleton Crew episode 1 is indeed the same classic chime heard while waiting in line at Disneyland for Star Tours, the first Star Wars ride at the parks located in Tomorrowland predating the existence of Galaxy’s Edge by over 30 years:

This pairs nicely with the RX-series pilot droid driving the bus in Skeleton Crew’s premiere. This is the same droid that once piloted Star Tours’ Starpeeder-3000 before being replaced by C-3PO and the Starspeeder-1000s for the 2011 update to the Disneyland ride. Likewise, Skeleton Crew episode 2 also features Fuzzball, the little alien that sat on Michael Jackson’s shoulder in Captain EO. That said, Skeleton Crew episode 3 has even more exciting references to the classic Star Tours ride, as well as to Captain EO at the same time.

Skeleton Crew’s Disneyland Easter Eggs Go Beyond The Premiere

The At Attin Insignia Combines The Star Tours and Captain EO Logos

As brilliantly pointed out by Reddit user u/emcee_you, Skeleton Crew seemingly features a genius reference to both Star Tours and Captain EO simultaneously. Using the At Attin insignia on Fern’s backpack, the owl-like astronomer Khy’mm separates the symbol’s components to help her locate the mysterious planet. As such, these very much look like the classic swooping arcs of the Star Tours logo merged with Captain EO’s triangle superimposed upon each other, creating this brand-new Old Republic symbol.

The Galactic Starcruiser Hotel May Be Gone, But Star Wars’ Latest TV Show Just Gave It An Unbelievable Legacy

Skeleton Crew has just given the Galactic Starcruiser an incredible legacy, and as a former crew member like myself, I couldn’t be more grateful.

Unlike the Star Tours chime, Lucasfilm had yet to confirm this newly discovered Easter egg. However, it does feel very likely that the iconography is intentional, especially considering the previous Star Tours and Captain EO references in the premiere (not to mention Skeleton Crew’s Pirates of the Caribbean Easter eggs that have also been found throughout). Furthermore, the At Attin insignia isn’t even the only Disneyland reference that can be found in Skeleton Crew episode 3.

Skeleton Crew Episode 3 Also Features Star Tours’ Starspeeder-1000 At Port Borgo

Its Latest Appearance In Star Wars Shows and Movies

Remarkably, a Starspeeder-1000 from Star Tours can be seen in the background of Port Borgo’s shipyard, joining other “Easter egg ships” such as a Lothalian corvette, what looks to be Hondo Ohnaka’s ship from Galaxy’s Edge, and even the original design for The Millennium Falcon. Not only does this further support the insignia Easter egg later on in the episode, but it’s truly an awesome Easter egg in its own right. After all, appearances from the Disneyland ship in actual Star Wars projects are rare, like its first appearance during The Rise of Skywalker’s Battle of Exegol.
