The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) Wednesday warned local government chairmen under the auspices of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) to stay away from the ongoing minimum wage issue.
FWF handed down the warning in a statement by its National coordinator, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan.
The forum stated that ALGON should not allow its members to be used by the state governors to scuttle the fight for minimum wage payment for workers in the 36 states in the country.
“We urge the LG to face their problem and continue to fight for their independence as a third tier of government in Nigeria; only then will they know that the LG can pay more than a living wage,” it said.
