Taylor Sheridan is one of the biggest names in media right now. While his work spans film and television, his recent years have been consumed by multiple television series. Most notably, this has included Yellowstone, a modern Western series that has been appreciated by fans and critics alike. Yellowstone season 5, part 2 has begun airing and will continue to run episodes weekly on Sundays through December 15. The Yellowstone universe has spun off into multiple other series, including 1923 and 1883.

While the Yellowstone franchise continues strong, but it is far from the only thing Sheridan is doing on television nowadays. Sheridan also created Tulsa King, a crime series starring Sylvester Stallone that aired season 2 this fall. Jeremy Renner’s Mayor of Kingstown was also created by the Yellowstone visionary, showing even more of his range in the crime genre. If Sheridan was not having a good enough year already with the release of new episodes from all of these series, a new record just proved his success once again.

Landman Has Set New TV Debut Records

Landman Is One of Paramount+’s Best Premieres

Sheridan’s Landman has now set a streaming debut record. Based on the podcast Boom Town by Christian Wallace, Landman takes audiences to West Texas to explore the modern-day oil industry. The series fluctuates between telling the story of those who run the oil companies and the townspeople who are in some way affected by the work. Landman features a leading cast including Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Jon Hamm, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, and James Jordan.

Per Deadline, Landman has now set a major streaming record for its debut. Paramount Global reported that Landman had 5.2 million cross-platform same-day viewers for its debut. For streaming alone, this is the biggest premiere for a Paramount+ series in two years. The last show to hit numbers this large was 1923. Landman has also become one of the top three biggest TV launches in the history of Paramount+, joining 1923 and Tulsa King. For three-day viewing, the Landman premiere was the best domestic debut ever for the streamer.

What is even more notable than Landman‘s record itself is the fact that all three of Paramount+’s top premieres are Sheridan-created shows. There is a reason Sheridan is involved in so many projects that get greenlit, and these numbers reflect that. As long as Sheridan keeps making hits for Paramount+ and other networks, the creative will stay a dominant force in the TV landscape. Based on his new record with Landman, Sheridan is not slowing down any time soon.
