The Transmission Company Nigeria (TCN) has commissioned a new 300MVA power transformer at its Benin Transmission Substation, increasing power transmission capacity in the South-South and Southwest regions.
According to TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the new transformer, one of two delivered to the substation, is part of World Bank projects aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s power transmission infrastructure.
Mbah in a statement she issued in Abuja recently assured that TCN will immediately install the second transformer to further enhance redundancy and transmission capacity.
This upgrade is part of the ongoing TCN/World Bank projects aimed at strengthening the nation’s transmission infrastructure. The addition of the new transformers is expected to improve power reliability and availability in the region.
“TCN is committed to continuously investing in transmission infrastructure to meet the growing demand for electricity in Nigeria,” Mbah assured.
