It’s a rollercoaster of a week for Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) in EastEnders next week, as they are at odds over son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall).
Last week saw the violent teenager’s abuse of mum Kat come spilling out after a dramatic night at No.31, during which he smashed plates, threw a chair to the floor, pushed his dad and poured hot liquid over Freddie Slater’s (Bobby Brazier) arm.
As a result, a concerned Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) called social services about Tommy’s aggression, worried about the safety of his twin brothers Bert and Ernie.
As next week begins, Jean is consumed with guilt when it turns out her actions have unexpected consequences.
However, things are still extremely tense between Kat and Alfie, as they struggle to process what has happened since the incident.
Alfie further riles Kat during a tense conversation on the Square with Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer).
They later have another hostile run-in at the Minute Mart, where Alfie is busy at work after recently landing a new job as manager.
But things look set to thaw between the former couple when Alfie offers Kat comfort and they head to The Vic together.
Is this the start of a new beginning for the Walford favourites?
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 28 October at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
