The fastest SSD just got a massive 41% discount thanks to Crucial

Crucial T705 is nothing short of an SSD marvel, leveraging Gen 5 technology to double transfer speeds over its predecessors. The only thing that would be quicker is our credit card flying at the screen if it didn’t come at such a high premium. Thankfully, the king has come down in price, allowing you to bag a 2TB model up to $150 / £100 / €216 cheaper.

Drop the heatsink, and you can currently save 35% on Amazon US, tumbling the price down to $279.99. You won’t spot a traditional discount in the UK, but a £100 voucher slashes the price to just £230. This is the lowest we’ve come across by a whopping £70. Europe features a mixture, from ready-made reductions saving you €216 (41%) in Germany to a €120 coupon in France. You just need to click the button below to see your region’s deals.

If you can’t see a coupon, make sure to check the ‘Other sellers on Amazon’ option to the right. Scroll down and you’ll see a check box from Amazon’s sold and dispatched section. It’s as simple as clicking that and adding it to your basket.

Crucial T705 (2TB)

Hold on tight; Crucial T705 takes SSD performance to the next level, approaching ever closer to the Gen 5 ceiling with up to 14,500MB/s.

Featuring up to 14,500MB/s read and 12,700MB/s write speeds alongside 1,550,000 random 4K read IOPS and 1,800,000 write IOPS, Crucial T705 sits in a class of its own at the forefront of all M.2 SSDs. It has just one rival in the form of Sabrent Rocket 5, but this often nips at its heels and still runs full price.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t actually need active cooling to run a Gen 5 drive, even at blazing-fast speeds. Phison has improved its controller reference designs and firmware to prevent the E26 inside T705 from tripping up when things get a little heated. Nowadays, it’s enough just to have good airflow.

That said, you do need some form of cooling, and this deal doesn’t come with a heatsink. Most Gen 5-compatible motherboards have thought ahead to include thermal shields over M.2 ports, which do the trick nicely. If yours doesn’t have one for whatever reason, there are plenty of M.2 heatsinks that support 2280 drives that barely cost anything.

If you want to get the fastest SSD possible, then Crucial T705 should already be at the tip top of your list even without a discount. Pop a good deal on top and it becomes the most compelling Gen 5 solution out there. Just remember that stock won’t last long.
