Now you can save even more money as the processor slips into a much more attractive price range.
The chip was always a fine fit for mainstream gaming builds, but the latest deal makes it the best CPU under £100 on Amazon UK. Similar discounts are dotted throughout Europe, lowering the price to between €107.45 and €125. 12400F is a six-core, 12-thread model that aims at 1080p gaming, but you might stretch its 4.4GHz boost frequency to 1440p if you pair it with one of the best graphics cards. Do be mindful that the ‘F’ at the end of its name means it doesn’t come with integrated graphics of its own, so it will need a dedicated GPU to help with visuals.
Since 12400F comes with its own stock Laminar RM1 cooler in the box, you can set more money aside for a compatible LGA 1700 socket. Supported motherboards are similarly cheap right now, fetching as low as £60 / $80 for an H610M chipset, although it’s worth forking out a little more for a B660.
I wouldn’t recommend you spend too long mulling this over, as the i5-12400F is flying off the shelves. Stock is dwindling as there are just 14 remaining in the US.
