When it comes to creating content, nothing is more important than audio. After all, viewers are far more forgiving towards shaky visuals than garbled voices. This is why Shure SM7dB has climbed its way to the top of the totem pole, delivering the sultry tones of your favourite streamers. Better yet, the marvellous microphone currently has a massive deal, bringing it down to its cheapest price yet.

Sporting a huge 29% limited-time discount, Shure SM7dB costs just $355 on Amazon US, saving you over $140. It’s a similar story across the pond, where the same mic drops to £437. You might struggle to find it reduced across Europe, but there are plenty of Shure SM7B models at a steal instead. Simply click the button below to see what deals are available in your region.

Shure SM7dB

Shure SM7dB has the sound you’ve loved for years, but with the convenience of a built-in preamp providing all the extra gain you’ll ever need.

Shure SM7dB has come a long way from its roots back in 1973. The original SM7 became a mainstay for musicians like Michael Jackson before SM7B cemented itself as the go-to for streamers and podcasters worldwide. It largely remained unchanged, taking the don’t fix what’s not broken approach, but it did feature a critical flaw for general consumers: the gain.

Designed for elevated vocals, SM7B features such a low floor that you need a lot of extra gain for it to pick up natural speaking voices. This necessitates expensive preamps or intermediary boosters like a Cloudlifter, making for a much more complicated setup, complete with added costs and a spaghetti of wires.

Shure SM7dB is the biggest revision of the classic microphone in decades, released in 2023 as a response to Logitech Blue Sona. It solves all of these issues with a built-in preamp capable of up to +28dB of gain. You’ll still need an interface or mixer offering +48V of phantom power to operate it, but you can save a lot of money in the process. That said, I’d still recommend picking up a Razer Mixer or GoXLR, because they offer a lot of convenience, controlling the volume of separate game, music, and chat channels.

At full price, Logitech Blue Sona is the smarter purchase, but this newfound low makes Shure SM7dB a no-brainer. The Bypass function gives you all the silky smooth performance of the popular SM7B, with the added convenience of the preamp whenever you need it. It’s naturally a chunk of money to sink into a mic, but it’s an investment. They’re built to last and elevate any content you make tenfold.
