Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under the aegis of Coalition Of Genuine Civil Society Organisations and Right Activist Tuesday said president Bola Tinubu should be blamed, for failing to take the right actions that would have prevented the planned protest slated for August 1, 2024.
The coalition while briefing the press at Human Rights Building in Ijaye, Ifako Ijaye local government area, Lagos state, said the organisers of the protest gave the president and government in power a long notice, which was enough for the president to moderate some policies that are inimical to the people.
The coalition added that the president taking the step would have prevented the sponsor of the protest from going ahead with the planned protest.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Comrade Declan Ihekaire of Activists for Good Governance, who was supported by other human rights leaders, like Comrades Ekundayo Shoyoye, Kushimo Olumiyiwa, Funmilayo Jolade- Ajayi, Bolaji Komolafe,Lawal Adewale among others, stated that the body language of the president does not present the picture of a president that is responsive and in a hurry to address the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
