President Bola Tinubu has sacked Jalal Arabi as Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale stated this in a statement on Monday, noting that the appointment is subject to confirmation by the senate.
The President has nominated Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of the Commission.
Arabi, a former permanent secretary the statement said is facing EFCC and ICPC probes for alleged mismanagement of Hajj funds.
He is being probed along with the commission’s secretary, Abdullahi Kontagora.
The statement further NAHCON chair is a renowned scholar with qualifications from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University, Pakistan.
He is also well-grounded in Hajj operations, having served as the Chairman of Kano State Pilgrims Board, and successfully supervised the operations of the largest quota of state pilgrims in the country.
