President-elect Donald Trump’s camp is accusing President Joe Biden of trying to start World War 3 before the former commander-in-chief returns to the White House.
Trump’s eldest son and some of his allies blasted Biden after he authorized Ukraine for the first time to use long-range missiles from the US to strike Russia.
A lame duck president, Biden appeared to make an about-face on policy a couple of months ahead of the inauguration of Trump, who promised to work to quickly end the Russia-Ukraine war and cut back on aid to Kiev.
‘The Military Industrial Complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives,’ wrote Donald Trump Jr on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday afternoon.
‘Gotta lock in those $Trillions. Life be damned!!! Imbeciles!’
Trump’s pick for national security secretary, Rep Michael Waltz, told Fox News that Biden’s move is ‘another step up the escalation ladder, and no one knows where this is going’.
Millionaire tech entrepreneur David Sacks, who donated to Trump’s campaign, wondered if it was Biden’s ‘goal to hand Trump the worst situation possible’.
”President Trump won a clear mandate to end the war in Ukraine,’ wrote Sacks on X. ‘So what does Biden do in his final two months in office? Massively escalate it.’
Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene said Americans on Election Day gave a mandate ‘against these exact America last decisions’.
‘On his way out of office, Joe Biden is dangerously trying to start WWIII by authorizing Ukraine the use of U.S. long range missiles into Russia,’ she wrote on X.
Even Trump’s former acting national intelligence director, Richard Grenell, said that ‘no one anticipated that Joe Biden would ESCALATE the war in Ukraine during the transition period’.
‘This is as if he is launching a whole new war,’ wrote Grenell on X.
Biden’s decision allows Ukraine to target the Kursk region, where Russia has about 50,000 troops including 10,000 from North Korea, senior US officials told Fox News.
Ukraine for months had asked the Biden administration for permission to strike deeper into Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin did not immediately comment on the development, but his spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday called it ‘a qualitatively new round of tension and a qualitatively new situation in terms of US involvement in this conflict’.
‘It’s clear that the outgoing administration in Washington intends to take steps to, they’ve said so, to continue to add fuel to the fire and to further provoke the level of tension,’ said Peskov.
Biden’s policy shift came after Russia on Saturday night carried out its biggest air strike on Ukraine since the war started in February 2022.
Sources told the Daily Mail that Biden gave the green light to Ukraine on long-range missiles to ‘send a message’ to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to not send more troops to back Russia.
