Two students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) have lost their lives in a stampede while struggling to get government-provided palliatives.
The state government had initiated the distribution of relief packages, comprising two bags of 7.5kg rice and ₦5,000 each, to students across tertiary institutions in the state.
However, chaos ensued at NSUK’s convocation square, the designated distribution point, as students struggled to collect their share of the palliatives.
Amidst the chaos, some students forcibly entered the premises where the relief items were stored, leading to a chaotic rush.
The situation escalated into a stampede, with students jostling and trampling over one another in a frantic bid to secure their portion of the relief materials.
Sadly, the stampede claimed the lives of two students from the university, plunging the campus community into mourning.
