In Unicorn Overlord, Ridiel is an elegant, half-elven girl players will encounter as soon as they step into Elheim. A cutscene will trigger near Rokkorus Town, and Chloe will act as a scout for the liberation army and scout the town. She’ll find Ridiel in the first scene being shunned by the other elves because of her murky lineage and her ties to the Zenoiran army. When you officially start the mission, you’ll see Ridiel again, crossing paths with Chloe as she’s headed to battle. Ridiel will offer Chloe information on the Zenoirans as long as the rebels are willing to pay for it. But Chloe will see through Ridiel’s double-crossing and leave without agreeing to her demands. If you’ve reached this point in the game, you might be wondering how to recruit Ridiel for your side.
How To Recruit Ridiel
Ridiel is an Elven Archer that can be recruited by completing the ‘A Half-Elf’s Resolve’ side quest. You don’t need to bring Chloe along to unlock Ridiel. Her recruitment has no special conditions.
The fastest way to trigger this mission is to enter Elheim from the southeastern edge of Cornia, using the road that goes south from the Lis de Prairie Village, right next to the Cornia Quarry.
Promote your best units to advanced classes and make sure you are at least level 16-17 before you approach this fight. The difficulty spike is deceptively sharp.
Ridiel will appear on the eastern edge of the battle stage as soon as it starts, but that’s a red herring; you don’t need to approach her. Instead, head south towards the enemy command post while clearing out the preceding garrison points.
When one of your units makes it to the large clearing at the end of the battle stage (with the camp), the Zenoirans will bring out a Cleric hostage and threaten you with their life while surrounding them with five units.
This situation is less difficult than it appears. If you defeat any one of these units, a cutscene will trigger, showing Ridiel having a change of heart and deciding to join the Liberation Army.
Ridiel will appear on the battle stage and decimate all remaining enemy units on the stage with a single arrow storm, making the rest of the fight trivially easy.
Use Ridiel’s Merciful Rain to heal your allies before the final push.
Defeat the enemy general to complete the battle stage. A final cutscene will trigger with Alain, Josef, Chloe, and Ridiel, where Ridiel will be automatically recruited to Alain’s party.
