Upcoming Jenna Ortega Movies & TV Shows

While Beetlejuice 2 may have been Jenna Ortega‘s biggest 2024 release, the actress has several other upcoming movies and TV shows in the works. Ortega got her acting start in commercials before making the jump to TV in 2012 with small roles. In just two years, she started to acquire more prominent roles in shows like Rake and Jane the Virgin. By then, Ortega was also appearing in movies. Following her stint on the Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Middle, Ortega’s movie career grew with roles in movies like The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Yes Day, and The Fallout.

While Ortega appeared in You season 2 and voiced a character in Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, her career took off in 2022 with the releases of Scream and Wednesday. Some of Ortega’s other best horror movies came in the few years that followed, with a sequel to the slasher franchise Scream VI and Ti West’s X. Wednesday season 2 still hasn’t arrived, but the young actress hasn’t slowed down, especially with so much interest and anticipation for the long-awaited Beetlejuice 2. Now that the Tim Burton sequel has released, what’s next for Ortega?

1 Winter Spring Summer Or Fall

Release Date: Expected 2024

In late 2023, it was announced that Jenna Ortega would reunite with Wednesday co-star Percy Hynes White for Winter Spring Summer or Fall. Whereas White’s Wednesday character, Xavier, was in interested in Ortega’s Wednesday, the two are real love interests in Tiffany Paulsen’s romantic drama. Winter Spring Summer or Fall follows two young adults that fall for each other over four days during different parts of the year. The movie also stars Riverdale‘s Marisol Nicholas and Criminal Minds‘ Adam Rodriguez in supporting roles.

Winter Spring Summer or Fall debuted at Tribeca in June 2024, but there still isn’t a wider release date attached to the movie. Following the release of Wednesday season 1, it had been announced that White’s Xavier was cut ahead of Wednesday season 2. The actor was involved in sexual assault allegations, which he has publicly denied, so it’s unclear if that was the true cause of casting changes in the hit Netflix show. More than likely, Winter Spring Summer or Fall will drop on streaming sometime in the near future.

2 Wednesday Season 2

Release Date: Expected 2025

Speaking of Wednesday, the follow-up to the massively popular Netflix series should arrive in 2025 if all goes as planned. It’s been a long wait for fans of the Jenna Ortega-led show, seeing as nearly been two years since season 1 debuted. Ortega’s rise has continued to rise following Wednesday‘s release, thanks in part to viral show moments like Wednesday‘s “Goo Goo Muck” dance. The wait, however, will eventually come to an end sooner rather than later, with Ortega back as the titular character alongside cast members like Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, and Joy Sunday.

While not much else is known about Wednesday season 2’s story, we know that members of the Addams family will have more pivotal roles in the upcoming installment. Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley will be core characters, with Uncle Fester and Grandmama making appearances. New cast members also include Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, and Haley Joel Osment. Of course, horror elements will still have a significant impact on the new season, something that Ortega has been teasing details about when discussing Wednesday season 2.

3 Death Of A Unicorn

Release Date: TBD

While the Hollywood labor strikes may have affected Wednesday‘s production, the same can’t be said for Jenna Ortega’s upcoming A24 movie. The actress will star alongside an industry favorite in Paul Rudd for Death of a Unicorn, which is written and directed by Alex Scharfman. The dark comedy features Rudd and Ortega playing a father and daughter who get into a car accident when they hit a unicorn. The movie then follows the ensuing events as the dead unicorn gets into the wrong hands, dangerously risking all involved.

Other cast members confirmed for Death of a Unicorn include Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. Though no images or footage has been released for Death of a Unicorn, the movie was filmed back in the summer of 2023 while Ortega was on a break from filming Beetlejuice 2. Since A24 wasn’t involved in labor negotiations, projects linked to the company were allowed to apply for waivers to continue filming. Based on its post-production status, Death of a Unicorn could possibly be released in 2025.

4 Klara And The Sun

Release Date: TBD

Taika Waititi in Free Guy

Before jumping back into Wednesday to film season 2, Jenna Ortega was busy working on Klara and the Sun, a movie directed by Taika Waititi. The movie marks the first time Ortega has worked with Waititi on the project based on the 2021 book of the same name. Klara and the Sun follows a robot, or “Artificial Friend,” named Klara, who becomes the companion of a sick girl named Josie in a dystopian United States. Ortega plays the lead character, Klara, with other cast members like Amy Adams, Natasha Lyonne, Simon Baker, and Steve Buscemi.

Klara and the Sun leans heavily into sci-fi elements, which will be a fun genre for Ortega to enter after being linked to so many horror-centric projects. Sony clearly has high expectations for the movie, considering the studio acquired the rights to the novel before it was even published. It will also be a change of pace for the actress portraying an android, but with Waititi’s experience with sci-fi and other offbeat stories, it has all the makings of being a highlight in Ortega’s career.

5 Untitled Trey Edward Shults Movie

Release Date: TBD

The Weeknd giving a deep stare in The Idol

Also confirmed for Jenna Ortega is an untitled horror movie from director Trey Edward Shults. The filmmaker previously directed Krisha, It Comes At Night, and Waves, but he’s teaming up with The Weeknd for an upcoming horror thriller. The Weeknd co-wrote the movie and will star in Shults’ movie, reuniting with Ortega after their work on Death of a Unicorn. Aside from The Weeknd and Ortega, Shults’ movie also features other noteworthy names like Barry Keoghan and Charlie D’Amelio.

The Weeknd previously starred in

and

Cast details for Trey Edward Shults’ next movie are all that is currently known publicly. The official movie title and any information regarding the movie’s story are unknown. That said, the movie is expected to have some kind of music focus, especially with The Weeknd’s involvement. At the very least, the movie soundtrack could be worthwhile if it involves top talent or the release of original music as part of the movie. For now, we will have to wait for updates from the cast and crew.

6 Rumored Movie From J.J. Abrams

Release Date: TBD

Jenna Ortega is also attached to a secret Warner Bros. movie in the works from J.J. Abrams. There’s no word on what the movie could be, but Ortega could work alongside Glen Powell on the Abrams project. Coming off of his standout performance as the male lead in Twisters, Powell has become a highly sought-after actor in Hollywood, which is evident by the number of projects he keeps booking. The same could be said about Jenna Ortega, who could be re-teaming with WB shortly after Beetlejuice 2’s success if the Abrams movie comes to fruition.
