Customers have been warned not to eat five types of hummus because ‘animal matter’ could be present.
The Happy Pear is recalling five of its products because they may have been contaminated with animal matter, making them unsafe to eat.
This notice is specific to Northern Ireland and the Food Standards Agency warns anyone who has bought the hummus not to eat it.
Instead they should return them to the shop they were bought from for a full refund.
The Happy Pear said: ‘As a precautionary measure, we are recalling the above batches of products which contain canned chickpeas as an ingredient, as a specific batch of chickpeas which were used is subject to recall due to the possible presence of foreign matter.
‘If you have purchased the batch of product, please do not consume it, return it to the store where it was purchased, where you will be issued with a refund.
‘We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.’
