The V-22 Osprey helicopter crashed into the water on Melville Island, a short distance off the coast of Darwin, Australia. According to sources, a military helicopter carrying around 20 United States Marines crashed on Sunday morning in the Northern Territory of Australia while participating in a training exercise. Three service personnel sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

According to reports from Sky News, members of the armed forces from Timor-Leste, the United States, Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines were all on board the V-22 Osprey helicopter that went down at 11 a.m. local time on Melville Island, which is located off the coast of Darwin.

Fox News Digital received a statement from the Australian Department of Defense which confirmed the crash and said that no members of the Australian military were injured in the incident. An incident involving an aircraft took place on Melville Island on August 27th, in the middle of the morning, about north of Darwin, and it was verified by a spokesperson for the Department of Defense that the event occurred during Exercise Predator’s Run 2023.

Initial reports suggest that personnel of the United States armed forces were involved in the event; however, there was no involvement of the Australian Defense Force in the incident. Right now, our first focus is figuring out how to respond to the issue while also ensuring the wellbeing of everyone involved.
