Wait, Is [SPOILER] Really Dead In Agatha All Along?!

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Agatha All Along episode 5.

In Agatha All Along‘s marketing, Audrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal is seen saying “the bodies are really piling up“, and the latest episode of Marvel’s WandaVision spin-off really delivers on that ominous promise. Not only does another of Agatha’s Coven die on the perilous Witches Road (and by Agatha’s own hand, no less), but the episode seems to end with Joe Locke’s Teen thinning the herd even more.

In the wake of the reveal of Teen’s true identity, the fact that Death is all over Agatha All Along might well be overlooked. We’ve already seen the sad demise of Mrs Hart/Sharon Davies (Debra Jo Rupp), and with the Salem Seven stalking the Coven, it doesn’t feel like more bodies are too far away.

Agatha All Along Episode 5’s Cliffhanger Explained

In Agatha All Along episode 5’s ending scenes, Teen is revealed to be the son of Scarlet Witch, Wiccan, somehow reborn after Wanda magicked him out of existence at the end of WandaVision. Disgusted with Agatha for killing off Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn) – albeit accidentally – Teen reveals his powers after Agatha tells him he’s “just like [his] mother“, mind controlling Jennifer Kale and Lilia Calderu and having them throw Agatha into the quick-sand-like bog by the side of the Witches Road.

It’s already been established that that bog is deadly, as it almost killed off Mrs Hart in the second episode, alongside the firm warning to never, ever leave the Road. Agatha sinking, followed by both Jennifer and Lilia is very much supposed to tease a grim end for them all. That happening in the fifth episode of a nine episode season is both shocking and a hint that all isn’t as it seems.

They’re Not Dead, But Alice Is

Agatha All Along has hinted that Death will be an ever-present throughout the season – not least because that’s definitely who Rio Vidal actually is – but it seems premature to call time of death on Agatha, Lilia, and Jennifer just yet. Alice, on the other hand, is dead for real. Just as Agatha killed her mother’s coven in Salem in WandaVision‘s flashback, she drains Alice of both her powers and her life force in a shocking twist that isn’t entirely her fault.

Alice’s attempt to save Agatha, only to see it backfire and lead to her death, is a short, sharp lesson never to look out for anyone but yourself, which seems to be the witches’ creed in the MCU. Like Sharon, Alice is now dead, and she may not be the last one to go: it wouldn’t be surprising if Agatha All Along kills the entire coven, other than Agatha, Teen, and Rio.

The good news is that we’ve already seen footage of Agatha beyond the end of episode 5 (like the Wizard of Oz inspired episode captured above), so she’s not dead yet. It’s noticable that one character is missing from Teen’s attack on the other members of the coven too.

Rio seemingly stayed with Alice’s body inside the trial while Teen was revealing his true identity and powers. It seems inevitable that she will be forced to rescue her fellow witches in the next episode of Agatha All Along. Perhaps we’ll also see the reveal of her true identity…?
