Warcraft Cast & Character Guide

2016’s Warcraft movie filled its cast of iconic video game characters with a talented mix of live-action and voice actors. The film is based on the 1994 real-time strategy game of the same name, which sees the orcs travel from Draenor to Azeroth to settle new territory, coming into conflict with the native human species. A clash of cultures erupts, though the film’s cast of protagonists includes humans and orcs alike, as characters on both sides attempt to keep the peace. Warcraft’s movie ending sees drastic steps taken by each side due to the evil of the wicked Gul’dan.

Despite some recognizable actors to round out its cast, Warcraft suffered critically and commercially upon its release. With only $439 million grossed at the box office worldwide, Warcraft 2 never happened, leaving the film as one of its era’s numerous attempts to turn a beloved video game saga into a multimedia entertainment franchise. For the time being, it’s the best live-action media Warcraft fans have, luckily featuring some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters, like Anduin Lothar and Thrall.

He had a role on the canceled HBO Max series Raised by Wolves and can be seen next in the Max series Dune: Prophecy, which could be his most prominent role to date.

Character: Travis Fimmel plays Anduin Lothar, a military commander for Stormwind’s human kingdom. He’s the charismatic hero and leader in Warcraft, who’s well-respected by the king and their men.

Paula Patton as Garona

Character: Paula Patton plays Garona, a half-orc woman who finds herself caught between the human and orc protagonists in the film.

Character: King Llane Wrynn is the noble ruler of Stormwind and the Kingdom of Azeroth. He’s Anduin Lothar’s brother-in-law through Queen Taria, making them close companions as the leaders of their nation.

Character: Khadgar is a young mage who was once trained to succeed Medivh as Guardian of Azeroth.

Clancy Brown as Blackhand: Blackhand is a vile orc manipulated by Gul’Dan, making veteran voice-acting legend Clancy Brown the perfect choice. Ruth Negga as Queen Taria: Queen Taria is King Llane’s wife and the Queen of Stormwind. She’s played elegantly by Ruth Negga, an Irish actress who also co-starred with Dominic Cooper on the FX series Preacher. She was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2016 for her role in the film Loving.

Anna Galvin as Draka: Draka is Durotan’s wife, who sadly dies early in the film. She’s played by Australian actress Anna Galvin, who’s had a long career in supporting roles for TV shows like Smallville and Supernatural.
