WD Black SN850X SSDs are a steal thanks to Prime Day discounts

Upgrading your system with additional storage can be expensive, but Prime Day has brought the price of countless solid state drives crashing down, including our favourite for gaming, WD Black SN850X. There are deals for 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB sizes, with or without a heatsink. So, whether you’re after a new SSD for your PC or PlayStation 5, this is the drive to get.

Right now, WD Black SN850X is available for as little as £68.39, a 57% discount, if you opt for the 1TB standard model. If you’d prefer the drive with its included heatsink, it only costs slightly more at £78.83 but with a steeper discount of 60%. However, the 2TB versions carry the biggest savings, with tempting prices of £118.73 (-67%) for the standalone and £132.98 (-68%) including the cover. Finally, 4TB of storage will set you back £227.99, with a 22% saving compared to RRP.

Promotional prices for WD Black SN850X are available in the US, too. The shoe’s on the other foot across the pond, mind, with the 4TB model sporting a whopping 63% discount, making it just $255.54. Meanwhile, you can have the 2TB drives for $139.99/$159.99, depending on the inclusion of a heatsink, with 1TB costing as little as $84.99/$92.75.

Three years after its initial release, WD Black SN850X remains the best SSD for gaming. This is about as good as PCIe 4.0 storage gets, with up to 7,300MB/s sequential read speeds and similarly swift 6,600MB/s sequential write speeds. It’s a high quality drive, through and through, easily meeting the demands of games today and proving no slouch as workhorse storage either.

Check out our WD Black SN850X 1TB and WD Black SN850X 2TB review for a deeper look at each size and the difference its included heatsink makes. For those after a quick recommendation, though, I’d recommend the 2TB drive above all. As for whether you should buy one with a heatsink, this depends on whether your motherboard already includes one for NVMe storage. If it does, go for the standard model. If it doesn’t, the heatsink model.

Don’t forget, these are Prime Day deals, so you’ll need Amazon Prime in order to get in on these promotional prices. If you’re new to the service, we’ve put together guides on what you get with an Amazon Prime subscription and have tips on how to find the best Prime Day deals.
