Following his surprising return to the fan-favorite role, Wesley Snipes shares his reaction to his Blade appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine breaking a Guinness World Record. The latest installment in both the Ryan Reynolds-led franchise and Marvel Cinematic Universe took the Merc with a Mouth on a journey through the multiverse, teaming up with a variety of returning Marvel actors, including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. During their time in the Void, Wade and Logan discover a host of other heroes trapped there, including Snipes’ Blade, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Dafne Keen’s X-23.
Shortly after the release of the MCU-set threequel, it was announced that Snipes set two new Guinness World Records for the longest career as a live-action Marvel character and the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films. Snipes subsequently took to his Twitter to react to the news, which can be seen below:
The post sees Snipes humorously wondering whether he’ll now receive a certificate from the record-keeping organization to commemorate the occasion. He does, though, go on to express his gratitude for the news and calling himself a fan of them.
Snipes Likely Won’t Hold 1 Guinness World Record For Long
There are two other Marvel actors primed to reclaim the record.
The record for the longest career as a live-action Marvel character has shifted hands a number of times in recent years as the MCU has kicked off its Multiverse Saga, with Jackman even previously holding the record. This was recently overtaken by fellow X-Men actor Sir Patrick Stewart with his return as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while Deadpool & Wolverine was primed to give it back to Jackman, Snipes’ reprisal sneakily netted him the new record. The longest-gap record was also recently claimed by Alfred Molina with his Spider-Man: No Way Home reprisal of Doctor Octopus.
While fans of Snipes’ take on the Marvel dhampir may be excited about his reaching the milestone, it seems unlikely the Blade actor will hold on to the Guinness World Record long. The Deadpool & Wolverine ending seemingly affirmed that Jackman’s Wolverine is now firmly situated in the MCU alongside Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth, giving him the chance to return should he be open to it. Given there are two Avengers movies on the horizon, they would also be the prime place for both Reynolds and Jackman to return.

The other potential reason Snipes might not hold on to both of his Guinness World Records for long after his Deadpool & Wolverine cameo is Robert Downey Jr.’s upcoming return as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Though its planned 2026 release date won’t quite match Snipes’ 25-year run as Blade, it would put Downey Jr. closer to this milestone as, should he also appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, it would give him a 19-year career in Marvel and an eight-year gap between his Avengers: Endgame exit and Doomsday return. Despite it likely being short-lived, Snipes’ Guinness World Record is a welcome celebration of his time as the iconic character.
