Wicked achieves another impressive box office milestone as it crosses $300 million domestically. The Broadway musical adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande-Butera, and Jonathan Bailey has been a box office juggernaut since its November 22 debut despite competition from Disney’s Moana 2 and Ridley Scott’s long-awaited Gladiator II. Wicked‘s box office got off to an exceptionally strong start by earning $164 million worldwide.
As per The Numbers, Wicked is now the first movie musical adaptation to pass $300 million in the United States and is the fourth highest grossing musical of all time at the domestic box office. It is also only the fourth movie to pass $300 million at the domestic box office in 2024, with the others being Inside Out 2, Deadpool and Wolverine, and Despicable Me 4. Wicked Will Continue Ascending The Box Office Charts
In addition to grossing $320.5 million domestically, Wicked has made $455.5 million worldwide. Wicked‘s positive reviews and box office earnings have proven that Jon. M Chu’s adaptation of the beloved musical has lived up to the hype and even managed to exceed the already high expectations. At this rate, the movie will continue to perform incredibly well at the box office throughout December and even into January, with the first month of 2025 offering little in the way of new competition.
