A woman shot three people outside a supermarket after stealing a police officer’s gun.
Video footage shows the woman being restrained by a police officer while they waited for the door of a police van to be opened outside a supermarket in Santiago, Chile.
She then reached behind her to pull a pistol from the officer’s holster, firing at least four shots without even seeing where she’s aiming.
Another officer hopped into the air to avoid the bullets before rolling behind a concrete block.
Other passersby also ducked or ran during the shooting on Monday morning.
Three people were injured in the shooting, according to the Carabineros de Chile, a gendarmes police force part of the Chilean military.
Among them was the officer restraining her, who she shot in the knee.
She also injured a cameraman for the morning news programme Contigo en la Mañana.
None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, Chilean newspaper La Cuarta reported.
The altercation started moments before as the woman argued with an officer outside Lo Valledor supermarket, where she is believed to have worked.
In another video, she can be seen jabbing her finger in the air and lunging at an armed officer wearing a helmet and protective vest as they signalled for her to leave.
Other people could be seen passing with the approval of officers after showing what appear to be identification cards.
An officer then grabbed the woman’s arms from behind and marched her towards the ‘mobile barracks’, or police van.
She then seized her moment, grabbing the gun from the officer behind her and opening fire.
It took two men to pin her against the Carabineros van and wrestle the weapon from her hand.
