A woman has died after being pulled from a river- and a man ‘known to her’ has been arrested.

Emergency services rushed to Yorkshire’s River Derwent in Malton at around 11.40pm yesterday.

Fire crews say they dragged two people from the waterway, and performed CPR on the woman, who later died in hospital.

A man in his 40s was later arrested in connection with the death and remains in police custody.
