Following the death of four persons in Jangalawaji and Tadangara communities of Gujba local government area, the Yobe state government has commenced risk communication in the affected communities and its environs to forestall further spread of the disease.
The executive secretary of the state Primary Healthcare Management Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, who was represented by the state Health Promotion Officer, Mister Mohammad Gado stated the aim was to create more awareness on the prevention and management of the disease at the early stage.
“There were cases of acute watery diarrhea in this area which resulted to casualties. Therefore we are here to create more awareness on the causes and prevention of the disease.
“This occurred as the result of the recent flooding in which these communities surrounded by water were affected by the outbreak of the disease. Hygiene practice is very key, especially during this time of disease outbreak.”
